September 12 at REX Hotel, City. Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam Seaport Association (VPA) held a ceremony to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Association’s founding with Saigon Port as host. Vietnam Steel Structure and Lifting Equipment Joint Stock Company (VINALIFT) sent a delegation of senior officials to participate and congratulate the association.

Vietnam Seaport Association (VPA) was established in 1994. Up to now, after 30 years of establishment, the association has 84 members who are seaports spanning the North, Central, and South. Among them, major ports in Vietnam are all members of the association. From the initial 24 founding member seaports, through 30 years of formation and development, up to now, VPA has 82 member seaport enterprises. The volume of goods passing through VPA seaport every year also grows and accounts for a fairly high proportion, about 60% of general cargo, bulk cargo, liquid cargo, and about 90% of the country’s container cargo.

In summary 2023, 81 association member ports will exploit more than 359 million tons of domestic import and export goods, including more than 17.7 million TEU containers.

According to forecasts, by 2030, the output of goods through the entire Vietnam seaport system will increase by 1.6 – 2.1 times; In 2050, it will be 4.1 – 4.8 times higher than today. To meet the demand for goods throughput, Vietnam’s seaport system is planned according to legal regulations, natural advantages, and economic development needs of each region, decentralizing each port’s role and defining each port’s role. the direction of connection methods, etc. to form a unified whole.

In the context that Vietnam’s northern seaports are gradually recovering after heavy damage caused by Typhoon Yagi, the Vietnam Seaports Conference (VPA) 2024 event has become an important forum for businesses.
