VINALIFT CONTRIBUTES TO THE FIRST HYBRID RTG CRANE MANUFACTURED IN VIETNAM

Completion and Handover Ceremony of 4 Hybrid RTG Cranes (6+1)
On May 11, 2025, in Ho Chi Minh City, four Hybrid RTG (Rubber-Tyred Gantry), cranes (6+1) — the first of their kind manufactured in Vietnam — were officially handed over to Tan Cang Overland Transportation. This marks a significant milestone for the Vietnamese port industry, as it is the first time such high-tech equipment has been locally produced with up to 50% localization.
In this pioneering project, VINALIFT was honored to be selected as the manufacturer of three critical components of the cranes: the trolley, the travel mechanism, and the operator cabin – all of which require high-precision engineering to ensure safe and efficient operation under the demanding conditions of seaport logistics.

VINALIFT’s Role in the Project
As one of Vietnam’s leading manufacturers of lifting equipment and industrial steel structures, VINALIFT collaborated with Mitsui E&S and Huynh Thy from the early stages – including engineering design, detailed fabrication drawings, and full-scale manufacturing of mechanical structures.
Specifically, the three components manufactured by VINALIFT were:
Travel Mechanism:
- A heavy-duty steel frame system enabling precise crane movement. This structure requires stringent control over deformation and dimensional tolerance.

Trolley:
- The core lifting mechanism that handles container hoisting. This component demands high-level welding and machining in accordance with international mechanical standards.

Operator Cabin:
- Designed for optimal visibility, operator safety, and ergonomic comfort. VINALIFT fabricated the entire frame, installed glass panels, and integrated auxiliary systems as per technical specifications from the Japanese partner.

All components were manufactured at VINALIFT’s Hai Duong facility, underwent strict quality inspections, and were delivered on schedule for integration into the complete crane system.
Benefits of the Hybrid RTG Crane
The Hybrid RTG (6+1) crane integrates a diesel engine with an advanced battery system, offering significant economic and environmental benefits:

Fuel Efficiency:
- Hybrid powertrain reduces diesel consumption by up to 60% compared to traditional RTG cranes.
CO₂ Emissions Reduction:
- Lower fuel use directly reduces carbon emissions by 60%, supporting greener port operations.
Noise Reduction:
- Electric-powered operation ensures quieter performance – essential for ports located near urban or residential zones.
Lower Maintenance Costs:
- Maintenance time is reduced by up to 75%, and lubricant usage drops by 80%, leading to lower operational costs.
Proving VINALIFT’s Engineering Excellence

Through this project, VINALIFT once again demonstrated:
Technical Capability: Meeting the stringent demands of heavy-lift and port equipment engineering.
Product Quality: Delivering world-class components that meet international standards.
Brand Reputation: Being a trusted long-term partner for leading global industrial corporations.
